TASUS Postpones Building Corporate HQ in Trades District

Local employer TASUS has decided to postpone building a corporate headquarters in the City of Bloomington Trades District. The automotive parts maker has announced plans to renovate its 30-year old manufacturing plant in Bloomington before moving forward on a Trades District build out.

Melanie Walker is CEO and President of Tsuchiya Group North America and TASUS Corporation. Walker said the company needs to renovate its existing Bloomington plant to improve space utilization and efficiency in order to meet continued demand for their product.

In June of 2017, the Bloomington Redevelopment Commission approved transferring an acre of the Trades District to TGNA Holdings LLC for Tasus Corporation for $1. The city bought the 12 acres of land that includes the TASUS parcel from Indiana University for around $9 million in 2011.

In a press release this week, Mayor John Hamilton said, “TASUS has been an outstanding local corporate citizen for decades. We appreciate the benefits their presence has conveyed to our community over the years, and look forward to working with them as partners in years to come.”
