Yesterday, Monroe County Commissioner Mark Stoops announced his candidacy yesterday for the State Senate District 40 seat. The seat has been left open following Vi Simpson’s move to capture the position of Lt. Governor of Indiana. A local Democratic caucus will be held to determine Vi Simpson’s successor to face a Republican candidate in November.
