South Bend Mayor and Democratic Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg cancelled campaign events to return to the northern Indiana city, last week.
Buttigieg – who is finishing his second term as South Bend Mayor – returned to the city, after a black man was shot dead by a white police officer. Buttigieg held a town hall meeting on Sunday about the shooting. In a separate incident, 11 people were shot at a bar, early on Sunday morning. One man was killed.
Since Sunday’s town hall, the South Bend Fraternal Order of Police has published a statement, criticizing Buttigieg’s response to the shooting and expressing solidarity with the officer in question.
