Sophia Travis Remembered

Play

A community leader and musician, Sophia Travis, passed away late last night in her home. Travis, who was 46, served on the Monroe County Council from 2005 to 2009. After giving birth to her son Finn in 2008, she did not seek re-election again until this year when she announced her candidacy for a county council at-large seat. Travis was also an artist, musician, and active volunteer in the community, including with WFHB. In April of 2010 she was a featured artist on WFHB’s weekly music program “Local Live.” WFHB Music Director Jim Manion was able to interview her prior to her performance and she shared her passion for music, and her connections to Bloomington, for tonight’s WFHB feature. We start with a song by Travis, titled “Shade.”
