Sheriff’s Office Considers Prioritizing Naloxone for First Responders

In a morning press release on July 11, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office stated that a lack of the anti-overdose medication Naloxone made it necessary for deputies to prioritize use of the drug on themselves and other first responders, rather than on people overdosing. Sheriff Brad Swain told WFHB News Director Wes Martin that one nasal-spray Naloxone dose existed per deputy. Later that afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office announced it had received 100 Naloxone kits from an unnamed source.
