Scott Wayman, Owner of Nashville’s Former Little Opry, Dies

Play

The owner of Nashville’s Little Opry has died.

Scott Wayman was announced dead last week by Martinsville’s WCBK.

According to the Brown County Democrat, Wayman bought the land the former Little Nashville Opry sat on, back in 2012. Wayman had told the Brown County Democrat he intended to rebuild the country music venue and dancehall, which had burned down in a suspected arson fire in 2009.

Both the town of Nashville and the Brown County Council had offered to assist Wayman in the reconstruction of the 2,000 seat venue, which he refused.

Last year, Brown County Government announced the construction of a music venue, which is expected to open in August.

It’s currently undetermined who will inherit the Wayman property, where the Little Nashville Opry once stood.
