Welcome to Prescription for Healthcare, a podcast collaboration between the WFHB Local News and Medicare for All Indiana, broadcasted live the second Thursday of every month.
This month we interview Paul Kaczocha, a long time Steel Worker and NorthWest Indiana activist. Paul is the chair of Northwest Indiana Medicare for All and past President of the United Steel Workers of America 6787.
We talk about NW Indiana, how industrial it is, issues with pollution but opportunities for organizing thru the unions, and the congressional race there between the Democratic incumbent Frank Mrvan and a well funded Republican challenger. Mrvan has not yet signed on as a co-sponsor to the Medicare for All bill in the House, HR 1976. NWI Medicare for All conducted a door to door survey/poll in Mrvan’s precinct to see whether they supported him to co-sponsor the bill.
