Bring It On! – October 12, 2020: MCCSC Copes with COVID-19

Today’s edition of Bring It On! centers on efforts of The Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) to prioritize the health and welfare of children, teachers, and parents in an equitable fashion given the dangers of COVID-19. However, at the same time, they face the challenge of how to resolve iniquities that makes it easier for those with higher incomes to choose home-based learning. To help, hosts, Clarence Boone and Wiliam Hosea, examine this issue is April Hennessey, who is running for a seat on the Monroe County Community School Corporation board.

April Hennessey moved to Bloomington in 2007 to attend graduate school at IU. Currently, she works as a Digital Learning Specialist for a global corporation that brings innovative learning strategies to organizations around the world. She is also the parent of children currently in the MCCSC school system and is a former MCCSC English teacher at Bloomington High School North. April enjoys spending time with her family, reading voraciously, listening to podcasts, and volunteering at The People’s Market to provide access to whole foods and food security to families across Bloomington.
