Bring It On! – November 9, 2020: Post-Election Analysis

Play

At 11:24 AM, Saturday, November 7, 2020, four days after the election, the state of Pennsylvania announced that Joe Biden had won the majority vote, effectively ending the presidential race and making him the new president-elect. Despite widespread recognition of his victory, Donald J. Trump has steadfastly refused to concede the election.

More importantly, Trump’s refusal to concede negatively impacts Biden’s ability to prepare for his transition into the Oval Office during one of the most precarious times in American history. The country remains bitterly divided. The United States continues to set new daily records for the number of new cases of coronavirus infections and deaths, and there are increasing fears that the country is facing the worst economic crisis since the great depression.

Bring It On!’s host William Hosea assesses the state of the nation post-election with four prominent figures in Bloomington’s civic circles:

  • Beverly Calender-Anderson – Director of Community and Family Resources for the City of Bloomington,
  • Jennifer Crossley – Chair of the Monroe County Democratic Party,
  • Shelli Yoder – Senior Lecturer at IU’s Kelley School of Business and Indiana State Senator-Elect for District 40, and
  • Jim Sims – At-large representative, Bloomington City Council.
