On today’s edition of Bring It On! hosts William Hosea and Liz Mitchell welcome Dr. Amrita Myers, who is the Ruth Halls Associate Professor of History and Gender Studies at Indiana University. Together they examine what the insurgency and siege of the Capitol Building in Washington by Trump supporters, in an attempt to overturn the 2020 Presidential Election results, says about white supremacy in the United States.

The Trump-endorsed insurgency on the Capitol Building and its aftermath have caused the Democratic and some members of the Republic Party to call for a historic 2nd impeachment of Donald J. Trump and the use of the 25th Amendment to remove him from office immediately. As many in the media have already pointed out, the lack of police preparedness to the violent Trump revolt is particularly startling given the overwhelming use of force used against largely peaceful Black Life Matters during the previous summer. The motivating subtext of QAnon-inspired white nationalism and structural racism, in part, seems to explain the violent action taken by the Trump supports who were involved. These issues and more are examined in today’s edition of Bring It On!.
