Bring It On! – December 21, 2020: Homeless, Not Hopeless

Play

On tonight’s edition of Bring It On!, hosts Clarence Boone and William Hosea examine the City of Bloomington’s current efforts to address homelessness and how to handle the homeless people residing in some of the city’s parks with a panel of community advocates for the homeless.

While some criticize some of the tactics employed by the City of Bloomington as inhumane, others argue that the government is taking reasonable steps to address the social and safety concerns involved with having homeless people in the city parks. In recent weeks, this issue has become particularly contentious because of action to remove the homeless from city parks.

To explore this sensitive issue hosts Clarence Boone and William Hosea welcome Harry Collins and Marc Teller from the Bloomington Homeless Coalition; Abby Ang, a community organizer from the Monroe County Area Mutual Aid; and Beverly Calender-Anderson,  the Director of the Community and Family Resources Department for the City of Bloomington.
