Bring It On! – April 19, 2021: OnyxFest, A Theater Festival Dedicated to the Stories of Black Playwrights

In today’s edition of Bring It On! hosts Clarence Boone and Roberta Radovich put a spotlight on 2021’s OnyxFest, Indy’s first and only theater festival dedicated to the stories of Black playwrights. To discuss OnyxFest and the voice of the black playwright are:

  • Vernon Williams, a professional playwright and founder of V3 Productions. He also works as a Communications & Community Engagement Strategist at Indiana University/Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI).
  • Justin Brady, the Chief Executive Officer of the IndyFringe Theatre CEO. He brings over 10 years of experience in nonprofit development and marketing, most recently at New 42, the largest provider of performing arts education in New York City.
  • Charla Booth, the OnyxFest Artistic Director. She is CEO of her own agency specializing in Motivational Speaking and Elocution and a Drama Teacher/Director for the Indianapolis Public Schools at Broad Ripple Magnet High School for the Performing Arts.

The OnyxFest is presented by the Africana Repertory Theatre of IUPUI (A.R.T.I.), School of Liberal Arts, School of Education, and Office of Community Engagement.
