Today’s edition of Bring It On! has hosts Clarence Boone and William Hosea examining the developments in the trial of Derek Chauvin so far. Livestreaming has given all access to the proceedings of the trial. National and international viewers are now following the televised trial of Derek Chauvin, who has been charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter of Mr. Floyd. While Derek Chauvin’s attorney argues that this trial is not about race, large segments of the general public and experts disagree. News outlets like USA Today state that this trial presents a national reckoning on race.

Prosecutors say Floyd was killed by Chauvin’s knee on his neck for more than nine minutes, which was buttressed by the findings of two autopsies. Chauvin’s defense attorney counters that Floyd died as a result of the drugs found in his system and underlying medical issues. To help decipher what has occurred in the trial so far hosts Clarence Boone and William Hosea are joined by:

Indiana State Police Captain Ruben Marté;
Monroe County Prosecutor Ericka Oliphant; and
Monroe County Circuit Judge – The Honorable Valeri Haughton-Motley.
