Progressive organizations are calling on supporters to turn out in the streets this afternoon.
Common Dreams and MoveOn.org are advocating for supporters to protest the forced resignation of US Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Sessions is a Republican, and has been no friend to progressive and left-leaning organizations. But MoveOn.org and Common Dreams are protesting his ouster, after Trump announced his replacement with Mathew Whittaker.
Whittaker’s appointment to acting Attorney General allows him to choose whether or not to indict suspects in an investigation, and grants him the power to allocate funding for investigations.
Rallies are expected on the courthouse square in Bloomington, Columbus’ city hall, and at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, beginning at 5 p.m. today.
