It’s the second Thursday in February, so that means it’s time for our podcast, Prescription for Healthcare, a deep-dive into healthcare issues hosted by Rob Stone and Karen Green Stone.

Today’s program is Part II. of their interview with T.R. Reid – a long-time correspondent for the Washington Post, author of many best-selling books, chairman of the Colorado Foundation for Universal Healthcare and chairman of the board for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. Prescription for Healthcare is available online and wherever you receive podcasts.

In the podcast, T.R. Reid gives us a possible solution to a central question we ask all of our guests: his prescription for healthcare. Spoiler alert: it has to do with providing universal coverage. Reid analyzes proposals by the Biden administration and provides his opinion on what amendments we can make to our current healthcare system.

“I think this Biden plan, if he can get it through Congress, would fairly quickly lead to just about universal coverage in the United States,” says Reid. “It would also probably take away a hell of a lot of business from the private insurers, and therefore they’re going to fight it like mad in Congress.”

T.R. Reid also discusses some elements of his best-selling books, which include “The Healing of America” and “A Fine Mess – A Global Quest for a Fairer, Simpler, and More Efficient Tax Code.”
