With the mid-point of the Indiana General Assembly arriving this week, any bills that have not yet made it out of committee or do not have a third hearing on the floor are effectively shot down for the year. One such bill is HB1146 which proposed to lift the ban on the retail sale of alcohol on Sundays. Currently, Indiana has the strictest alcohol laws and regulation in the United States. Earlier this month WFHB correspondents Nash Hott and Wes Martin conducted interviews with alcohol lobbyists and politicians who ended the bill’s run in committee hearings. John Levengood, President of the Indiana Association of Beverage Retailers opposed the bill, and Bill Davis, Chairmen of the House Public Policy Committee denied a vote on the bill in committee.
