In today’s episode…Monroe County has received a $2 million Next Level Trail Grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to expand the Karst Farm trail to Ellettsville. The City of Bloomington Utilities began installing “smart water” meters last week, allowing customers’ water meter readings to be wirelessly transmitted directly to CBU. The American Psychological Association is reporting mental health issues stemming from concerns about climate disruption. Japan has resumed commercial whaling after a thirty-year moratorium.

In today’s Eco Feature, Purdue Agronomy Professor Eileen Kladivko talks with WFHB’s Norm Holy about the benefits of cover crops. According to the Indiana Department of Agriculture, Hoosier farmers are growing more cover crops. A report released last month shows cover crop usage has increased more than 400 percent in the past seven years.
