All Stories by Norm Holy

The November 29th edition of The Herald-Times has a front-page story entitled “Why did First Presbyterian Church in Bloomington cut trees in Brown County”. The 23-acre property in question is near highway 46 on the way to Nashville and has been owned by the church for decades.

In the November 28th edition of The Herald-Times, the lead story was “What to expect in [the 2023] legislative session”. The topics discussed in the story included “Economy is a question mark”, concerning the uncertainty of where the economy is headed in 2023.

In 1919, Indiana stood as the nation’s number one maple syrup producer boasting vast acres of maple forests. Decades of removing trees, however, made the statewide industry move to the back of the line in scale of production.

IU News reports that among the dozens of presidents and prime ministers from around the world who attended the United Nations’ annual climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, was a delegation of Indiana University Bloomington faculty and students.

The cold-water fish, such as codfish, are leaving the Gulf of Maine because the water is now too warm. Similarly, the salmon industry has largely collapsed from California to Alaska because waters are too warm, and because of over-fishing and habitat destruction.
