The Bloomington Academy of Film and Theatre, or BAFT, will be hosting a series of workshops for Hoosiers interested in learning more about acting, filmmaking, and screenwriting. BAFT Studios aims to bring together “both aspiring and accomplished film and theatre artists in a professional studio environment.” The sessions will last seven to eight weeks, and each project will focus around a specific theme. For example, October’s project will be horror themed. Meetings for BAFT Studios will take place from 6 to 9PM on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays.

The city of Bloomington announced a pilot program today for the Mill Code School. The Mill Code School will be offering a free 10-week program to teach software and web development. The program is part of Mayor John Hamilton’s Recover Forward initiative. The goal of the Mill Code School’s program, according to Mayor Hamilton, is to “equip our residents — particularly those unemployed or under-employed — with relevant skills for the new economy.” Hoosiers can sign-up for the pilot program until September 20, and classes will begin on October 5. Subsequent sessions will be offered throughout 2021.
