The Indiana Renter’s Assistance portal is set to close tomorrow, August 26, at 11:59 PM.

The Renters Assistance program was created to help families whose income has been reduced due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Over 30,000 people have applied for rental assistance, which has prompted repeated government reinvestment into the assistance program. According to an estimate from the Hoosier Housing Needs Coalition, no less than 240,000 Hoosiers are at risk of eviction, and Indiana’s moratorium on evictions and foreclosures expired two weeks ago. To apply for renters assistance, visit IndianaHousingNow.org before the portal closes tomorrow.

With the November General Election coming soon, it is important to know your voting options. For the Primaries, Indiana allowed for no-excuse absentee voting, which meant anyone could request their ballot by mail for any reason. It’s possible to request a mail-in ballot for the general election as well; However, as of right now, you must have an acceptable excuse why you cannot be at the ballots on election day. The deadline to request an absentee vote-by-mail ballot in Indiana for the general election is October 22nd. You can find more information on voting in Monroe County, including the application for a mail-in ballot, at monroecountyvoters.us.
