After a full day covering local service projects celebrating the King holiday, the WFHB news staff thought the day was winding down as we approached our 7pm live broadcast of Bloomington’s MLK Day celebration at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. But things were actually just starting to heat up. Our cub reporter Kai Grise had spent HIS day working on our annual youth-produced documentary, “A King’s Legacy”. Grise got a surprise when Bloomington mayor Mark Kruzan brought him to meet the day’s keynote speaker, the Reverend Jesse Jackson. Nine-year-old Kai asked Jackson the same questions he had been asking kids all day, getting heavy with the final question “What would King say to President Obama?” but starting with “What is your name?” Jackson answered him patiently and deliberately.
