Play

Host William Morris – along with guests Hilary Detty and Cory Burger of the Monroe County History Museum – embark on a conversational journey of the 200-year history of Monroe County.    Hilary outlines the history of the museum, tracing the building’s roots from the Negro School of Monroe County to, later, the Monroe County Public Library, and finally to the Museum in 1980.  Hilary also describes the principal exhibits and displays.  Cory shared his wealth of historic knowledge, including the history of railroads, limestone and the Underground Railroad in Monroe County.  Cory also touches on the days when Bloomington was both the geographic epicenter of the United States, as well as the #1 manufacturer of televisions in the world.  It is a journey that crosses many years and many memories of Monroe County!
