Interchange – Bernie Dwyer: The State of Cuba Today

Play

Host William Morris is joined by Irish journalist and filmmaker, Bernie Dwyer, to talk about her recent documentary film The Day the Diplomacy Died, co-directed with Roberto Ruiz Rebo.   Bernie discusses how the film exposes the story behind the lock-up of 75 independent journalists, trade unionists, and librarians in Cuba in 2003 through the eyes of four ex-Cuban state agents working undercover.  Bernie tells Interchange how the mainstream media never fully investigates the role played by the so-called “US diplomats” in Cuba in controlling the dissident movement.  She also offers her view of the “State of the Revolution” in Cuba today, as well as her insights in how Cuban life is governed.
