Indiana Representative’s Brother Killed in Cameroon

Elkhart Representative Tim Wesco’s brother was shot to death in Cameroon, on Tuesday.

Vice President Mike Pence and Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb issued statements expressing their condolences. Charles Truman Wesco was killed while on a missionary trip in northwestern Cameroon. The Cameroon Defense Minister said it was likely Wesco was killed in a crossfire between government forces and separatists. He leaves behind a wife and eight children.

Wesco had been in the northwest region of the Central African country with his wife and children for nearly two weeks before he was killed.

The U.S. Embassy in Cameroon warns Americans against traveling to the country’s northwest and southwest regions, where separatists are fighting for independence.
