Saturday, June 23rd, will be the 40th anniversary of Title IX. Initially introduced by former Indiana Senator Birch Bayh in 1964, Title IX legislation was enacted in 1972. Over the last 40 years, it has provided women with more equal opportunities in education, including the realm of athletics. The number of women playing sports in the United States has increased exponentially and it has arguably led to a change in Americans’ perception of women and their roles in society.
