On Tuesday, the Indiana Debate Commission hosted the state’s first gubernatorial debate.

With only two weeks before the election, Republican Governor Eric Holcomb, Democrat Woody Myers and Libertarian Donald Rainwater faced off in remote sections of WFYI’s television studio without a live audience. The debate was moderated by Andrew Downs, director of the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics.

The candidates’ back-and-forth remarks revealed their differing strategies on how to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and how to fund Indiana’s schools.

There will be another governor’s debate at 7 p.m. on October 27th. The debate moderator will be Nadia Brown, an associate professor of political science and African-American studies at Purdue University.
