Senator Joe Donnelly stopped in Ellettsville this afternoon. The incumbent Democrat is up for re-election this Fall; A statewide law, concerning the identity of parents who surrendered their children for adoption, went into effect yesterday; The Indiana State Department of Health recorded a net increase in the number of abortion procedures carried out in the state; Indiana University alumni elected Donna Spears to the IU Board of Trustees; Raw sewage overflows from sanitation drains are expected to be corrected early next month.

FEATURE: Sam Stephenson ran across the groundbreaking works of photo-essayist Gene Smith a few years ago. Stephenson became obsessed with Smith’s photos as well as the thousands of hours of audio tapes Smith had made. Stephenson’s near-obsession eventually became “The Jazz Loft Project,” a book and traveling exhibition of Smith’s work in New York. Stephenson last year released a second book called “Gene Smith’s Sink.” He joined host Michael Glab on last week’s Big Talk.

ACTIVATE:  Mona Clay has volunteered with Girls Inc. for three years. Clay knows that consistency is important for girls. Clay discussed her journey with Girls Inc. on today’s Activate – highlighting people working for positive change in our community.
