The Indiana Department of Revenue is implementing an online sales tax, starting this Fall; On Friday, an Indiana judge approved an injunction, allowing a transgender student to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with; An Indiana lawmaker is in hot water, after doubting the existence of racism in a three-year old conversation on social media; The Monroe County Courthouse will be lit up in a purple glow for September, National Recovery Month; Several new election-related laws have come into effect, including one governing the disposal of voting systems and electronic poll books.

FEATURE
Filiz Cicek grew up in a creative family in Turkey, in the Caucuses Mountains, near the Black Sea. She studied art, first at Marmara University in Istanbul, and then at Indiana University. Cicek curates this month’s art exhibit, Every Body Art, at the Thomas Gallery. The show runs in conjunction with Bloomington’s Pridefest and offers both local and international artists commenting on gender and sexuality.
