Five people from Bloomington who love movies, videos, and all forms of recorded visual art got together more than five years ago to found Cicada Cinema, a pop-up movie theater. Setting up ad hoc shop wherever they could, the five brought cult films, art films, and many other cinematic treasures to town. Nile Arena was one of those five. He talks about Cicada’s efforts over the years as well as next week’s Archival Screening Night: Roadshow Edition 2021, to be shown Thursday, November 18, 7:00pm, at the FAR Gallery at 4th and Rogers. Admission is free. Cicada is working with the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts and the IU Libraries Moving Image Archive to stage the exhibition.
