Brain Extravaganza!

Bloomington resident Dr Jill Bolte Taylor is known internationally as a neuroscientist whose own stroke in 1996 wiped out her abilities to walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. In the years since, Taylor has regained all these abilities, and is again studying the brain. This year, in a massive collaboration with the City of Bloomington, Indiana University, Monroe County Community School Corporation, and the local artists and business communities, Taylor is leading the public art and education installations of twenty two giant brains throughout Bloomington. Brain Extravaganza! mimics similar city-wide public art programs that saw cows gracing Chicago, and pigs prancing in Seattle. Bolte-Taylor spoke with WFHB news director Alycin Bektesh today with an update on the Brain Extravaganza! project, and how it relates to her life-long fascination with the brain, for this WFHB feature exclusive.
