Her family has been selling books and magazines since the days of the Great Depression. Margaret Taylor now runs the remaining business of a regional retail and distribution empire started by her parents, Barbara and Jim Spannuth. The Book Corner has stood at the northwest corner of Kirkwood and Walnut since 1964 and continues to enjoy a robust trade. The store is one of two independent booksellers still in business in Bloomington, the other being Caveat Emptor just four doors north on Walnut Street. Long past the age of retirement, Margaret continues to work every day because she loves books and the people who read them.
