BMV Extends Hours Before Tuesday Elections

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is extending operating hours next week.

The state said license branches will extend their hours on Monday and Tuesday in order to issue ID cards and driver’s licenses. The move comes just one week before mid-term elections. The BMV said its branches will be open Monday, November 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Tuesday, November 6, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Branches across the state will only be processing identification on Monday and Tuesday. That includes state-issued IDs and drivers licenses. An ID is required to vote during Tuesday’s midterm elections. Voters can use any state issued ID, or a college ID from a state school like Indiana University, Ivy Tech Community Colleges or IUPUI.

You can also vote if your ID card has expired after the last general election – Thursday, June 6, 2017.

A list of documents required to obtain a new state ID card or driver’s license can be found at myBMV.com.
