Bloomington Plan Commission Denies Hotel Plan

Plans to put a four-story boutique hotel, with apartments, near Bloomington’s downtown Tech Park have run aground.

Last night, the Bloomington Plan commission denied Waterstone Bloomington Land LLC’s hotel site plan for the northwest corner of Morton and 11th Streets. Senior Zoning Planner Eric Greulich said the site plan did not adhere to a 2008 commitment made by the developer to include technology office space.

Greulich also pointed to the city’s significant investment in developing the tech park. The city has installed roads, and hired a real estate broker to market parcels within it.
