A section of South Washington Street in Bloomington will now bear the name of long-time Middle Way House Executive Director Toby Strout.

Strout worked at Middle Way House, which provides services for survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking, for 30 years. Middle Way House was founded 48 years ago, in 1971. Strout passed away in 2017, at Bloomington Hospital.

The City of Bloomington placed designated markers along the three block section of South Washington Street during a ceremony, this afternoon.

Board President Katheleen Sideli said, “Middle Way House would not where it is right now without Toby Strout. It’ll be an honor to have this section of S. Washington St. named in her honor.”
