Catherine Brennan was born in Canberra the youngest of five kids, she proudly states “to the best parents ever.” Her family lived in Tokyo for two and a half years until she was five. They made Canberra their home until 1972 when she moved to Dublin with her parents. Catherine finished high school there and went on to university. From 1978 she lived in Adelaide where she said she did a bunch of jobs until she decided to go to Art School. Catherine scraped a living cleaning houses and teaching art. She moved to Melbourne and completed an MFA in 1996 and then moved to Los Angeles. In 1998 she met Susan at Barack Obama’s undergraduate Alma Mater. Catherine and Susan have been together ever since through immigration uncertainties, health woes, political nastiness – and children.
