Bird Applied for Operator License

Play

The electric scooter company Bird applied for an operator license with the City of Bloomington, and met with the Board of Public Works on Tuesday evening. Miles Schuck represented the scooter company. Board members questioned Schuck about the company’s operations in the city. Board member Beth Hollingsworth asked Schuck about the people hired to make sure the company’s scooters are parked in accordance with the city’s regulations.

Hollingsworth also questioned Schuck about the company’s helmet requirement. After saying she had never seen anyone on a Bird scooter wearing a helmet, Schuck explained the difficulty with enforcing a helmet rule.

The Board of Public Works unanimously approved Bird’s application.
