Beleaguered Attorney General Calls for Civility

Play

Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill has written an opinion piece, calling for civility and unity in politics, and in day to day life.

The state’s highest ranking law enforcement official is releasing the editorial in commemoration of the 55th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Kennedy was slain in Dallas in 1963, on live television by Lee Harvey Oswald.

Attorney General Hill quotes Kennedy’s 1961 inaugural address, which calls for unity rather than focusing on divisive issues.

Hill describes President Kennedy’s death as a ‘unifying event,’ with the country coming together to mourn the loss of the president.

The embattled Attorney General is accused of drunkenly groping four women earlier this year, including a lawmaker.

A special prosecutor investigating the accusation concluded that, although he found the allegations credible, Hill will not be charged. The Special Prosecutor cited the difficulty of proving a case against the Attorney General due to the passing of several weeks before the allegations were raised.

Hill publicly denied groping the women and has rejected calls from Indiana Governor and fellow-republican Eric Holcomb and other legislative leaders to resign.

Hill assumed his position as the state’s Attorney General last year. He will need to be nominated by the Republican Party before he can run for office again in 2020.
