Beacon Inc.’s Forrest Gilmore

Play

The executive director of the nonprofit antipoverty organization, the Rev. Forrest Gilmore, joins us again to update listeners on the state of homelessness and hunger in Monroe County and what Beacon is doing about those problems. Formerly known as the Shalom Center, the organization changed its name in 2020 to better reflect the various projects and programs it runs to feed and house people in need. The Shalom Center remains an integral part of Beacon’s overall strategy. Gilmore asserts that the solutions to hunger and housing are surprisingly easy to explain but finding the financial resources continues to prevent them from being fully implemented.

Host Michael Glab chats with Bloomington’s most fascinating people.
