Anti-nuke Activist David Keppel

Play

His father was an American emissary to Moscow and a Kremlinologist. He was born just as the Cold War threatened to turn hot. David Keppel began protesting and organizing against the madness of the nuclear arms race in the 1980s. Today he serves as an organizer for the Bloomington Peace Action Coalition and is a member of the Green Sanctuary Task Force of the United Universalist Church of Bloomington. Even though American and Russian nuclear arsenals are a fifth of the size they were in the Reagan years, the world still faces catastrophe should either side, intentionally or accidentally, fire even one thermonuclear weapon. Additionally, more countries have joined the “nuclear club” since that time.

This edition aired Thursday, October 8, 2020.

Host Michael Glab goes one-on-one with Bloomington’s most fascinating people every Thursday at 5:30pm.
