On Tuesday, October 8th, the City of Bloomington will host Ada Lovelace Day, in honor of Ada Byron Lovelace, the mother of the modern-day computer. The day’s celebrations will focus on how the arts relate to STEM, or Science, Technology and Math.
Festivities will begin at 11:00am, with a special Ada Lovelace March that will start outside IU’s Luddy Hall and terminate at 11:30am at the Dimension Mill. Members of the public are encouraged to participate by dressing in Victorian-era garb and meeting outside Luddy Hall around 10:45 a.m. Signs for marchers will be provided. The city will also present its first Ada Lovelace Award, which recognizes a local pioneer in STEM.
