Saturday’s Child March 13th Purd McGee 11am

Play

Purd McGee is a musical stew flavored with rock, jazz, and funk that’s been simmering since about 1996. The universe introduced John Points and native-Hoosier/former Blooomingtonian Buzz Luckenbill while working at the PourHouse Bar and Grill in Boston. Their shared musical interests and influences quickly became evident, and that energy drove the creation of their first collaborative effort – a band called Stymie. Stymie grew to include nine members and performed over the next eight years, during which they were nominated for Boston Music Awards three consecutive years in the category Funk/Jam Band.

The band continued to evolve, changed their name to Uncle Buzz in 2005 and began a new phase, performing in and around the Boston area for more than 10 years. Catalyzed by the departure of a couple of key members, in 2018 John and Buzz turned their focus to writing and recording their original brand of music, and together entered the current era of Purd McGee… Hope you like the music.
