Sam Bartlett’s Contra Dance Band Class, for players 55 and over (but anyone under that age too)

The finale will be the dance band class playing the dance January 24th. 

Every class will feature 1 to 2 new tunes taught slowly by ear, along with the chords and other accompaniment ideas. In addition, participants will practice next to each other, finding the rhythmic sweet spot of contra dance, 110 BPM.

Local dancers and musicians know Sam, but might not know:

He has played in virtually every old-time and contra dance community in the United States for the past 40 years, and has played with a who’s who of touring dance bands including: Wild Asparagus, the Clayfoot Strutters, Notorious, Rodney Miller and the Stringrays, the Monks, and of course Bloomington’s own Supertrad, with Eric Schedler.   For questions, contact Sam at: [email protected].
