2 – 4 p.m. Reception and Artmaking, Simpson Center for Education Lobby and Roehm Family Art-making Studio
Join an exciting afternoon of programs with visiting artist Ephraim Anderson, who is an Artist-in-Residence at the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis this fall.
Ephraim Anderson, or Zefren-M, is a multimedia artist and a member of the Navajo Nation. Their interest in creating modern art through traditional methods has taken on varied forms, namely fiber art, woven textiles, and silversmithing. They have also been active in reconstructing historical weaving techniques and educating new generations of indigenous weavers. They have been awarded the 2019 Heard Museum Best of show and have received multiple awards from the Navajo nation Fair, Gallup ceremonial and the Santa Fe Indian Market.
All of these activities are free and open to the public. This program is co-organized by the IU First Nations Educational and Cultural Center and the Eskenazi Museum of Art, with support from the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art.
