Join a park naturalist for a guided hike of Trail 6 around Lake Strahl! Hear about the history of the lake, the surrounding Strahl Valley, and learn about the animals that make it their home, all while enjoying beautiful fall colors. The section of Trail 6 around Lake Strahl is considered easy to moderate. It has some short staircases, uneven surfaces, tree roots, and possible wet spots. The trail is less than a mile and will take about 45 minutes to complete.

Animal Hour is an opportunity to talk with our animal exhibits staff directly to learn about WonderLab’s animal ambassadors and what it takes to care for animals from around the world. During this program you can have the opportunity to meet snakes, lizards, insects, arachnids and more up close and out of their habitats.

Before Western science accepted the existence of meteorites, many cultures formed their own beliefs about them. Encounters with the celestial rocks have long inspired fear and reverence. Photographer Emilia Martin is fascinated by the stones, but also by the people who study and adore them. With whimsy and extensive research, Martin presents a series of photographs that playfully investigate the old stories and the collective memory surrounding meteorites.
This captivating collection showcases imagery from Sara’s recently released oracle deck — a body of work inspired by dreams, myths, and archetypes that emerged through an intuitive creative process.
Each piece invites viewers to look inward, exploring the symbolic and spiritual connections that guide the artist’s vision. Merging storytelling and mysticism, McQueen’s work bridges the seen and unseen worlds with color, form, and imagination.
You’re invited to celebrate the Trades District Block Party — an evening of music, food, art, and discovery. The Trades District is Bloomington’s hub for innovation, creativity, and connection. The creative practice of Sarah Wolfe spans food, design, sculpture, and drawing. Her work explores tensions between external and internal worlds, reproductive frailties and environmental anxieties by gathering materials, textures, and patterns from the natural world for an end result that feels somehow both private and universal. The pieces will be displayed at a gallery in the back of Gather as part of Bloomington Gallery Walk.

Charmaine will examine the prospects and challenges facing anti-imperialist working-class struggle in North America today. Drawing on ten years of scholarship and organizing in and around the logistics sector – through port blockages in the Palestinian solidarity movement and through organizing with an independent union of Amazon warehouse workers – this talk suggests that contemporary “internationalist” thinking remains too wedded to immaterial goals of “consciousness-raising” insufficiently attentive to the concrete challenges of rooting internationalism in grassroots working class movements.

Darlin’ Brando—the pseudonym of singer, songwriter and drummer, Brandon Goldstein— melds the twang and two-step beats of honky tonk, the wry humor and storytelling of folksy troubadours like Kristofferson, Prine and Miller, and the melodic hooks and surprise twists and turns of golden-era rock ‘n roll to create an exciting and unpredictable brand of country music.
Though raised in Virginia, his music is a product of decades spent moving from city to city, coast to coast. From Los Angeles to Brooklyn to Bloomington, IN to Nashville Tennessee. And then back to LA. All while living and learning the kinds of hard lessons country songs are made of: heartbreak, divorce, substance abuse, the list goes on.
West Fork Revival is a musical collective that blends alternative country, folk, rock, and indie genres. The band was formed in 2024 and is known for its storytelling, melodic craftsmanship, and a sound inspired by artists like Son Volt and The Jayhawks.
Rikki Jean learned the harsh realities of life at a young age, losing her father at age five. Growing up in Southern Mississippi, life was tough for her, two sisters, and widowed mother . Every step of the way seemed to get harder as she cascaded through life. Growing confidence with every failure, Rikki managed to put a band together and has now recorded three albums.

Farming means wearing many hats—including that of an entrepreneur and business owner. Understanding the ins and outs of financial planning, marketing, and business management is key to making your farm thrive.
New Farmer U is a two-day training and gathering designed to help small and mid-scale farmers with 2–6 years of experience develop these skills while connecting with peers and exploring creative ways to manage their operations.
This event is all about practical learning and real-world strategies. Expect farmer-to-farmer conversations, interactive workshops, small group discussions, and plenty of time to connect over shared meals and campfires.
November Market begins today from 9a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Switchyard Park Pavilion (1601 S. Rogers St.). For a third year, the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market and the Bloomington Winter Farmers’ Market will co-host the November Market. The dates will be November 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd.
The Downtown Library and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard will be offering free seeds. Any seeds left over from the Swap will be donated to the participating seed libraries so that they’re still available for the community.
When donating seeds, please make sure your seeds are not from invasive plants and note the following:

We ask that you please package your seeds accordingly; we will have tools and supplies on-hand.

The Wylie House Museum may have one of the oldest ginkgo trees in Indiana. Nicknamed “the living fossil,” the ginkgo tree species dates to 245 to 66 million years ago, which means trees like the one at the Wylie House would have coexisted with the dinosaurs here on Earth. Come preserve your own piece of arbor history by exploring the unique features of the trees around the Wylie House and getting creative with waxing leaves.
Come join us for Wilderness Day on Saturday, November 8th at Karst Farm Park! We’ll have local guides, naturalists, and environmental agencies demonstrating different outdoor skills with the goal of making every one of all ages feel more comfortable and skillful being out in nature. Morgan Chase from Kirkwood Sweet Shop is coming in to walk you through the classic pumpkin pie and a spice cookie— both excellent options for your Thanksgiving dessert table. Her pumpkin pie is attainable, fool-proof and just darn better than store bought. Don’t like pumpkin? Her spice cookies are showstoppers, somehow classical but original. You’ll practice both recipes and take home some of your creations!

Three time BMA nominee’s The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band are “the greatest front-porch blues band in the world”. They are led by Reverend Peyton, who most consider to be the premier finger picker playing today. He has earned a reputation as both a singularly compelling performer and a persuasive evangelist for the rootsy, country blues styles that captured his imagination early in life and inspired him and his band to make pilgrimages to Clarksdale, Mississippi to study under such blues masters as T-Model Ford, Robert Belfour and David “Honeyboy” Edwards.
Sarah Jacobson was admired in the independent film scene of the 1990s for her adamantly self-starting approach: with the help of her mother, she financed, distributed, and marketed her films completely outside of the film industry’s corporate structure.
