They’re young. They’re ruthless. They’re covered in glitter and blood. A team of competitive dancers claw their way toward glory while their inner lives explode with ambition, shame, lust, and rage. In the cutthroat world of pre-teen dance, the feral beauty of adolescence and the cost of wanting to be extraordinary wage war. She will win. Or die.

East Nash Grass, the 2024 IBMA New Artist of the Year, is redefining what bluegrass can be. With a powerhouse lineup featuring veterans of acts like Dan Tyminski, Sierra Hull, and Rhonda Vincent, this Nashville-based supergroup brings breathtaking instrumental mastery, rich harmonies, and an irreverent, playful energy that lights up every stage they play. Their performances are equal parts tradition and boundary-pushing innovation—bluegrass at its finest and most fearless.
Sharing the bill are Southern Indiana’s own Indiana Boys, known for their heartfelt original Americana and bluegrass-infused songwriting. Drawing on a decade of performances and a deep love for roots music, they craft songs that are as emotionally complex as they are musically captivating. With four albums and countless live shows under their belt, Indiana Boys have become a staple of Indiana’s music scene.

An adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s notorious 1891 stage play, Salomé is a queer classic. Produced by its star Alla Nazimova and designed by Natacha Rambova, the film re-envisions the biblical story of Salomé, who danced for King Herod for the head of John the Baptist on a silver platter. Inspired by the work of Aubrey Beardsley, whose illustrations accompanied the first English translation of Wilde’s play, Nazimova and Rambova abandoned any effort at historical realism, crafting a style that film scholar Martin Turnbull has called “Art Nouveau meets searing minimalism meets Hollywood decadence.” [71 min; drama; silent with English intertitles]

Palmyra straddles at least two musical worlds. They are, on one hand, a band from the South that plays traditional instruments and indeed once lived in the old-time locus of Floyd, Virginia. Comparisons to and a kinship with The Avett Brothers and even Old Crow Medicine Show are inevitable. On the other hand, Palmyra writes about grief, gender dysphoria and identity, and coming of age in songs that flirt with soul, post-rock, and even emo; the South, too, is the place of My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses, Cat Power, and now, Palmyra.
The band’s first full length LP, Restless is out now on Oh Boy Records. Framed by moments of struggle, solidarity, and hard-won growth, Restless is an unqualified ringer for anyone who loves the space where the roar of indie rock collides with raw folk.

John Raymond and S. Carey have been playing music together for close to twenty years since their time studying music at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. While they both received training in jazz and classical music, their careers would soon head in very different directions. Carey would become the right-hand man to Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver); collaborate as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer with the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Low, and Bruce Hornsby among others; and release four albums of his own to critical acclaim from Pitchfork, NPR, and more. Raymond, on the other hand, would become a Grammy-nominated trumpeter and composer “steering jazz in the right direction” (Downbeat); release eight albums garnering praise from the New York Times, Stereogum, and others; and teach on faculty at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, one of the most prestigious music conservatories in the world.
In 2019, the two reunited and began experimenting on what their artistic voices would sound like together. Raymond brought in a host of musical ideas, while Carey contributed lyrics and helped shape the ideas into songs. Producer Sun Chung (formerly with ECM Records) came on board shortly after, and together they enlisted a cast of A-list musicians to help flesh out the music including pianist Aaron Parks (Terri Lyne Carrington, Terence Blanchard), bassist Chris Morrissey (Norah Jones, Mark Guiliana), and guitarist Dave Devine (Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band).
The result is their new album, Shadowlands (Libellule Editions), a stunning, genre-bending collection of songs that combines the warmth and beauty of Carey’s aesthetic with the improvisational, spontaneous nature of Raymond’s. The music ranges from intimate and meditative to soaring and anthemic, with electric moments of musical interplay throughout. It’s the kind of collaboration that feels as if it were years in the making.
