Soft, buttery, spongey and versatile, madeleines are a great dessert all year round. Calling all bakers! Today Shane O’Bannon will walk you through how he does madeleines from start to finish, and also show you how to create a version that’s dipped in chocolate.

Calling all homeschool teens! Drop by the Downtown Teen Space for a chance to hangout with other homeschoolers, do some crafts, play some games, or get some homework done.
Teens and Tweens (grades 6-12) — come learn and play D&D at the library! We’ll provide a DM who will give you 30 minutes of instruction then 90 minutes of game time, plus light refreshments. You’re welcome to come play independently, too, if you already have a campaign started! No registration is necessary.

Join the ongoing Joshua Clover Memorial Materialism Reading Group for its next iteration on “The Eclipse and Re-Emergence of the Communist Movement” by Gilles Dauvé. The short book provides a sustained reflection of the events of May 1968 in France with an analysis of the reinvigoration of the proletarian movement on a new basis.
The reading group will meet on January 8 at 7pm EST at Redbud Books and online.

Beginners, pros, or people who just want to watch yarn do its thing . All welcome. Bring your project, start a new one, or just sit at the table and soak in the cozy vibes. Tips, tricks, and yarn jokes included.
Every week we’re offering a new craft night, so boredom is not invited. This is your ticket to slow down, make something with your hands, and maybe accidentally meet your new craft buddy. Quiet concentration optional. Giggles and “oops I dropped a stitch” moments encouraged. Our well being depends far more on the wealth we share than on our private finances and possessions. This talk by Scott Russell Sanders, Professor Emeritus of English at Indiana University and Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, will celebrate the gifts of nature and culture that support and enrich our lives. It will also show how these shared riches—atmosphere, oceans, biodiversity, parks and public schools, arts and science, laws and language, and many more—are under assault by those who wish to exploit them for personal or corporate gain. By recognizing the common wealth that sustains us, we may be moved to defend it. Questions, reactions, and insights will be welcomed.
