Doors at 5:30pm. TEDxIndiana University returns to the historic Buskirk-Chumley Theater with Mosaic, our 10th annual TEDx conference! Join us on February 27th at 6 PM to hear six powerful ideas from six inspiring speakers, each bringing their unique piece of the human experience to the stage.
TEDx events are independently organized programs licensed by TED, designed to bring communities together around ideas worth spreading – because ideas change everything. Through live talks, storytelling, and meaningful conversations, TEDx creates space for people to explore new perspectives and engage with bold, innovative thinking.
Our conference, Mosaic, aims to be a celebration of the pieces that make us whole. Each fragment of experience, culture, perspective, and story contributes to a larger image of connection and meaning. In a mosaic, no single piece defines the work; instead, beauty emerges through diversity, contrast, and cohesion.
Through exploring lenses like identity, innovation, or community, we invite you to Mosaic to reflect on how individual elements, when brought together, create something far greater than the sum of their parts.
Discover new ideas. Connect with your community. See how individual fragments can create something extraordinary.

Haiku Tunnel defies comparison. A workplace comedy unlike Office Space, based on a dramatic monologue yet nothing like the work of Spalding Gray, and featuring a neurotic lead but completely different from What About Bob. What Haiku Tunnel is is a deeply funny film about anxiety, work, love, and 17 very important letters that absolutely must go out right away (you’ll understand when you watch the movie). The gossip is hot and the hairspray is heavy! The beauty shop is coming to the stage at The Little Theatre of Bedford in the upcoming production of Steel Magnolias. Get ready for sharp wit, southern charm and a whole lot of pink.
Three seasoned veterans of the comedy scene—Dave “The King” Wilson, Dave Dugan, and Tim Cavanagh—take the stage to deliver an unforgettable evening of family-friendly stand-up.
Dave “The King” Wilson brings decades of stage presence and radio cred. He began doing stand-up in the 1980s and became a familiar voice in Indianapolis radio, notably on the renowned afternoon show on WIBC, and as part of the Bob & Tom universe. His larger-than-life persona, radio chops, and Midwest roots combine for sharp, accessible humor that will resonate with anyone who loves a good story with attitude.
Dave Dugan offers a contrasting but equally strong presence—his every-man delivery, dry wit, and clean material have landed him national exposure on networks like Comedy Central and HBO, as well as regular appearances on the syndicated Bob & Tom Show. He’s known for customizing his act to the audience, making him a favorite for live events and theaters alike—and now you get to see him live in a theatre setting.
Tim Cavanagh rounds out the trio with a comedic musical edge. He’s been performing for more than 30 years, producing rapid-fire jokes, parodies, and songs, and has been featured on national television and radio including regular segments on the Bob & Tom Show. His style brings a different flavor—witty, playful, and adept at engaging the crowd.
Whether you’re a seasoned comedy fan or simply looking for a night out filled with laughter, this event checks all the boxes.

In a busted, musty house in Atlanta, where the basement flooded when it rained, the air smelled like mildew, and the landlord once tried to evict them for using the space as an “electronic rock band facility,” Sword II recorded the most ambitious, accessible, and electrically charged music of their lives.
Electric Hour, the band’s forthcoming full-length for section1, is a wildly catchy and deeply principled rock record. It’s about the beauty and terror of living under a surveillance state, loving people through extreme hardships, and finding strength in friendship and creative resistance.
Self-recorded over a 14-month period by the band – Mari González (she/her), Certain Zuko (she/her), and Travis Arnold (he/him) – the album marks Sword II’s first fully cohesive statement after years of working in a more experimental, song-by-song mode. Each member brings a distinct set of influences: Mari drawing from the emotional and sonic complexity of Joanna Newsom and Kate Bush, the grit of Lucinda Williams, and the drama of musical theater; Certain blends the theatricality of Rocky Horror, the raw energy of hardcore punk, and the playful psychedelia of MGMT; Travis channels the pop bite of Avril Lavigne, the glossy darkness of The Weeknd, and the layered intensity of My Bloody Valentine. Together, they’ve forged a sound that’s raw, unadorned, defiant, and grounded in real-world experience.

An influential touchpoint in the horror canon, Georges Franju’s provocative yet initially unheralded Eyes Without a Face follows the unraveling of a plastic surgeon determined to operate on his daughter after an accident disfigures her face, and he uses the skin of others to do so. The film did not draw much attention in the States upon initial release, but it has since grown a reputation as a distinctly poetic piece of horror cinema. When it was released in the United States, Eyes Without a Face was re-cut, dubbed into English, and retitled as The Horror Chamber of Dr. Faustus. This screening will be a 35mm presentation of this version. [81 min; horror; English]
What happens when you combine a vocalist with a Masters in Musical Theatre and a guitarist with a Doctorate in Music for Guitar Performance and Literature, who both have a deep love of Jazz, Bossa Nova, and The Beatles? You get the base duo of Betsy and The Bears. Throw in Eliot Crispin on Bass and Solly on the Mandolin and you’ve got the whole quartet!
Justin Wells delivers a powerful, emotionally charged live show—equal parts grit and vulnerability. Loud electric guitars give way to whispered ballads. Frenzied moments slow to a crawl. Praised by Rolling Stone for his “gift for melody” and Saving Country Music for his “stunning insight and honesty,” Wells is an artist who leaves it all on the stage every night.
Opening the show, Cody Ikerd & The Sidewinders bring high-energy Outlaw Country rooted in the spirit of the ’90s. Josie Music Award winners with over a decade on the road, they’ve shared the stage with Hank Williams Jr., Jo Dee Messina, Sara Evans, and more. Expect a show built for boot scootin’, slow dancing, and fans who love original country music done right.

Although international guidelines are in place to prevent the forward transfer of microorganisms from Earth to Mars during exploration by humans there is no regulatory authority. The US National Aeronautics and Space Administrations (NASA), the European Space Agency (ESA), and the China National Space Agency (CNSA) are likely to succeed in landing crewed spacecraft on Mars within the next 2 decades. NASA, ESA, and CNSA participate in the Committee on Space Research which develops and publishes international standards related to space exploration including future human exploration on Mars near surface locations with evidence of temperatures reaching above -25 0C (-13 0F) and having water available for biological reactions. These two conditions define Special Regions which are expected to be priority targets in the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. The environmental challenge lies in collecting samples from Special Regions without the transfer of terrestrial microorganisms capable of survival and growth. Lisa Pratt, Professor Emerita of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, former NASA Planetary Protection Officer, and Co-Chair of the Committee on Planetary Protection for the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, will help us understand whether the international race to explore with humans will override the scientific imperative to prevent irreversible forward contamination of Mars with life from Earth.

Doors at 6:30pm. The spirit and sound of Altan comes from the deep and rich musical tradition of their native Co. Donegal. On one of his many visits to the Donegal Gaeltacht of Gaoth Dobhair, Belfast born flute player Frankie Kennedy met fiddler and singer Mairead Ní Mhaonaigh, sparking off a deep musical connection, marriage in 1981, and a journey that took them all over the world. Their vision was to bring the unique repertoire of Donegal music to the world and that mission is still as strong as ever.
In celebration of the band’s latest album, The Gap of Dreams, the band has brought their music all over Europe and Ireland, the US and Canada, Japan, Australia and even North Africa. The latest album celebrates the roots of their music in Donegal folklore. It was recorded in the Attica Studios in the mountains of Donegal which contributed to a wonderful atmosphere which permeated throughout the recording. The title refers to that ‘gap’ or ‘door’ between this and the ‘other world.’ The older fiddlers , whom they got their music from, always associated with the “other world” as the source for their music and inspiration. They would describe poetically about encountering the fairy folk or listening to tunes on the wind or on the shore listening to the sound of the waves.
