You’re invited to come to our winter concert for the choral textures and traditions of the season, to have some wassail, and even sing along with QMC on a medley of favorites called “Snows of Yesteryear.” Stay for a blend of Broadway, pop, rock, and oldies reimagined to illuminate the joys of the holidays: “Morning Glow” from PIPPIN, Jamie Cullum’s “Hang Your Lights,” “Shine” by 90s rockers Collective Soul, and the beautiful Beatles ballad “Golden Slumbers” to name just a few.
Martinsville resident Bobby Helms made “Jingle Bell Rock” famous in 1957 as the original artist of the well-known Christmas classic. Over 60 year sold, the song is now one of the biggest selling Christmas songs of ALL TIME! That holiday spirit lives on in Martinsville with the Bobby Helms Jingle Bell Rock Christmas Music Spectactular.
The big musical performance and tree lighting is on Sunday, but on Saturday AND Sunday, families are invited to come downtown and enjoy a FREE synthetic skating rink! The rink will be available on both Saturday (4-8 pm) and Sunday (3-8pm) and is open to all to participate.
First Sunday of the month, except for holidays when it is pushed to the second Sunday.
This is your chance to hear firsthand what they’re doing and contribute to the conversation.
In this two-part series, Tim Londergan, Professor Emeritus of Physics, and Steve Vigdor, will present the basic science behind global warming and climate change . The presentation will emphasize empirical data rather than complex climate models. They will discuss short-term impacts of climate change that are already being felt, and long-term concerns about potential irreversible changes to Earth systems. They will then outline steps that could be taken to mitigate the most severe impacts of climate change, if the civic will to do so can be mustered. Questions and comments from the audience are welcome!
This second lecture will focus on the following questions:
Climate tipping points: what may change irreversibly?
How can humans mitigate climate change impacts?

Join us for an enchanting evening of holiday jazz and cheer at Oak, nestled in a magical little plant shop on the downtown square. Pianist Monika Herzig and bassist Peter Kleinle will perform curated arrangements from Monika’s Peace on Earth CD—a musical celebration inspired by the spirit of peace we so dearly need.
In honor of St. Nikolaus Day (December 6), Monika will share stories about traditional German Nikolaus celebrations, accompanied by delicious German cookies to enjoy. The evening will culminate in a joyful sing-along to spread the holiday warmth.
Come down to the Downtown Library for a family-friendly movie viewing of “Elio” (2025). All ages.

Babe Haven is a queer punk band known for their riot grrrl attitude and nu-metal edge. Formed in Boone, NC by Lillie Della Penna and Naomi Poesel, the band creates anthems of empowerment and resistance brimming with raw aggression. With a mission to uplift femme, queer, and BIPOC voices, Babe Haven turns every show into a space of radical inclusion and catharsis.
Babe Haven has been setting stages ablaze and selling out shows, quickly becoming an iconic staple in the modern punk scene, shared stages with the likes of Mannequin Pussy, Otoboke Beaver, Soft Play, Teen Mortgage, Pinkshift & Pollyanna. They have also appeared at popular tastemaker festivals such as L7’s Fast and Frightening Takeover, Punk Rock Bowling & Jorts Fest.

Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis has been America’s favorite holiday tradition for 40 years! Grammy Award winner Chip Davis has created a show that features Mannheim Steamroller Christmas classics in the distinctive Mannheim sound and will bring this show to Bloomington this upcoming holiday season.
The program includes 15 musicians playing more than 20 instruments against a backdrop of dazzling multimedia effects—capturing the spirit of the season in an immersive yet intimate setting.
With student soloists Katherine Schwab, soprano; Laura Looper, soprano; Bryce Zimmerman, countertenor; and Robbie Erickson, tenor.
About the Conductor:
Recognized with The American Prizes in both Choral Composition (2014) and Choral Performance (2019, with NOTUS), Dominick DiOrio is an imaginative, enthusiastic, and energetic conductor and composer who has won widespread acclaim for his contributions to American music. He is professor of music and chair of the department in choral conducting at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he joined the faculty in 2012, and where he serves as director of NOTUS, IU’s storied contemporary vocal ensemble, which has been invited to perform at regional, national, and international choral conferences, and with which he has released three commercial albums to critical acclaim.

Assistant District Attorney John Sargent (Fred MacMurray) , knowing that women are harder to convict during the holidays, moves to have his case against shoplifter, Lee Leander (Barbara Stanwyck), postponed to January, potentially leaving Lee alone in jail on Christmas. Feeling guilty, John posts her bail, and the two go on a whirlwind roadtrip from New York to Indiana to celebrate the holiday with their families, only to fall for one another along the way. Will their budding romance get in the way of John’s conviction?

Get in the spirit with live holiday music, every Thursday night in December at the distillery! It’s an annual tradition of merry tunes, clinking cocktail glasses, and cozy cheer. Reservations recommended, 21+.
Look up “holiday music” in the dictionary, and it’s likely that there is a photo of the a cappella group Straight No Chaser instead of a standard definition. For more than two decades, the group that got its start at IU has provided the soundtrack of the season, bringing millions of fans to their feet while putting them in the holiday spirit. Year after year, fans anxiously await the moment they can officially hit play on Straight No Chaser favorites. And this year is no different.
Straight No Chaser is back returning to IU Auditorium as part of its Holiday Road tour, serving up an all-you-can-eat buffet of holiday music (with none of the calories). The nine-man act of Walter Chase, Jerome Collins, Seggie Isho, Michael Luginbill, Steve Morgan, Jasper Smith, Luke Bob Robinson, Tyler Trepp, and Freedom Young, has served as a festive blend of harmonious voices for more than 25 years. Even though the group has been together for a quarter of a century, the thrill of performing holiday songs for old and new fans alike is not lost on them, especially when they return to Bloomington, where it all began.
Mary Mother of God hosts this show by and for sex workers, and this round we’re raising money for a local houseless worker!
Nashville-based rocker, Willa Mae, makes music for critters, creatures, and girls. Weaving themes of southern living, gender, and nostalgia into catchy bubble-grunge anthems.
