Bring the entire family to get up close with these vehicles, learn about what they do, how they work and how they benefit our community!

We suggest that you bring ear protection for babies and children to protect their ears from noise and to prevent them from becoming startled by the sudden and unexpected sounds of horns and sirens. We have a “quiet hour” from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. where no horns are allowed. Don’t forget sunscreen and bring water bottles to help your family stay cool and hydrated in the heat.

The Ultimate Doors was formed with the intention of preserving The Doors’ music and performances as well as bringing an authentic experience to the old and the new generations of Doors fans.

With great attention to detail, The Ultimate Doors provide their audiences with an authentic looking and sounding tribute to Jim Morrison & The Doors. Every piece of equipment on stage is exactly what The Doors used in the 1960s from the instruments and amps to the clothing and microphones. The Ultimate Doors leaves no stone unturned in bringing an authentic Doors tribute show to the stage.

The four musicians within the Ultimate Doors who take on the roles of Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore do not take the job of portraying their idols lightly. They bring a professional, high-energy, authentic production to the stage night after night in order to transport their audiences back to the late 1960s.

________________________
Alex Cunningham (violin, STL) / Damon Smith (double bass, STL) / Jerome Bryerton (drums, CHI)
While all of this trio has been to Bloomington, they have never performed here all together. Jerome and Damon performed alongside Ortet last fall at Russian Recording, but Alex has not been since 2017. All seasoned improvisers, this trio will conjure wild sounds together, composed on the fly. Damon has been a student and explorer of the upright bass for decades, also running the label Balance Point Acoustics. Jerome and Alex are both accomplished visual artists as well. Jerome is a print-maker and painter, and Alex creates collages that are just as kinetic as his playing.

“Ordinary Pilgrimage” improvised performance with dance, music, and poetry @ Monroe County Courthouse, Northwest Lawn, 100 W Kirkwood Ave, Bloomington
Jun 29 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Bodies, limestone, satin, green sun, resonances, and language.

A unique improvised performance unfolding in the spaces we move by every day. You’ll encounter dance, music and poetry—an invitation into new relationships with downtown’s familiar places.

What becomes possible when we come together in creative space?
What can be said that usually goes unsaid?
What does it mean to dwell in deeper dialogue—with one another, and with what is already here?

This meandering performance walk is about being with each other—an unfolding of presence where something uncommon may emerge. How do we gather to see differently, to be differently together in these uncommon times?

Come be inspired. Be surprised. Take some time. Meet someone new.

The performance begins under the large tree on the Northwest Lawn of the Courthouse, across from Social Cantina.
We’ll begin there and slowly travel two blocks, with performance surprises in local businesses, ending at the Monroe County History Center.

Tasty cool treats will be provided during and after.
Optional interactive prompts offered. Linger, play, and explore after the performance.
