Our Lothlorien celebration of the Summer Solstice and the peak of summer and thank you to our members. It’s a quieter community event, more loosely planned than larger festivals with a seasonal ritual on Saturday evening. It’s an opportunity to wander the woods or hang out in the shade of the trees. There are no festival fees (only members can stay overnight). Sign-in will be on the field or along the driveway. It’s also a great opportunity to introduce friends and family to Lothlorien. Saturday during the day is a sort of open house. You are welcome to arrive Friday also.
There will be a community potluck Saturday afternoon. There will be a Heart Tree Ritual and a sand painting in Thunder Saturday evening.-usually featuring a sand mandala.-More details soon!

The term Blue Zones was first coined by Dan Buettner to describe areas of the world where people not only lived longer than the rest of the world, but also enjoyed a higher quality of life. where people not only lived longer but also enjoyed a high quality of life in their old age. This 45- minute documentary takes us to the villages of Sardinia to a sunny suburb of California, as Dan and his team explore what has contributed to these communities’ amazing lifespans. A brief discussion will follow the screening.

This event supports the Cancer Support Community of South Central Indiana (CSCSCI) and will be hosted by Josh Johnson of Bloomington Pub Quiz and sponsored by Hoosier Hills Credit Union. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to the CSCSCI.

This is a ribbon cutting ceremony dedicating a new sculpture made by artist Joe LaMantia in our Bloomington community celebrating suffragettes who in 1920 brought in the 19th amendment. These courageous and determined women rode across the United States on their bicycles getting out the word to vote. This is a usable artistic bike rack part of which will be a reimagined version of Lady Liberty who will be made from upcycled street signs and license plates. Something very unusual and needing to be seen in person! This bike rack will be installed at the new location at My Sister’s Closet future location at 1204 W 2nd St. on the corner of W 2nd and Patterson drive. Please join us for our celebration of upcycling and recycling women’s rights our bicycle community and the incredible determination and courage of women yesterday and today who inspire all of us!

Page through historical materials from the Lilly Library’s collections, including sumptuously illustrated herbals and medieval books, watercolor nature diaries, original photographs by Frank Hohenberger, and much more! Or try your hand at some pollinator-themed puzzles with our Curator of Puzzles.
Representatives from the Wylie House Museum will be on hand to talk about how to plant your own garden to enjoy. Take home some seeds for native Indiana plants and learn about the Wylie House heirloom garden.
And if you’re feeling creative, learn how to make a simple nature diary to document your own adventures outside.
These events are open to the public, with no registration or experience required (though we appreciate advance notice for groups of 5+ people). We simply ask that you dress appropriately to do outdoor work, and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. Snacks and drinks will be provided as well as any other tools you may need to help out!
We hope you can join us to get outside and enjoy nature, make new friends, and learn some sustainable, organic orcharding practices. All are welcome!

Bloomington Parks and Recreation has a long history of hosting live music in city parks, and of showcasing local musical talent. The Performing Arts Series presented by Visit Bloomington provides many accessible venues for outdoor performances, and promotes music as a way for local residents to experience different musical cultures and to bring neighbors together.

Join us on Thursday evenings beginning 6/26 and ending 10/30 to play disc golf.
We’ll start out with a short introduction session and play the 9-hole disc golf course at Arlington Heights Elementary School. If you have never played, no worries, you can practice throwing discs before playing the course.
Bottled water and discs will be provided but it’s good to bring your own as well.

Batuquê Trio came together out of a shared passion for Afro-Latin music and jazz. The trio blends a myriad of Latin jazz styles, from the folkloric roots of Cuban and Brazilian music to contemporary trends in Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and Caribbean jazz.

Shaun Hague, bandleader, has built quite the resume in the ten years. At just 17, he was named “The Best Young Blues Guitarist” by The House of Blues, and by 21, the young guitarist was playing guitar for Blues phenom Kenny Wayne Shepherd. The Limestone Heritage Festival is a community celebration of Lawrence County’s rich limestone history during “Limestone Month,” which is recognized annually during the month of June. It all takes place on the Downtown Bedford Square Friday, June 27th and Saturday, June 28th.
